On the 15th of December 2021, EFIEES’ board and members met for general assembly and discussions on the current political developments in the EU on energy efficiency and renewable energy, notably important elements of the Fit for 55 package.
During this meeting, EFIEES’ board decided to reelect Pascal Guillaume as President for another three-year term.
As the construction of the legislative framework of the European Green Deal progresses, EFIEES has been actively engaged in the process, which has led to the comprehensive and interconnected set of proposals in the Fit for 55 package to deliver on the Union’s climate ambitions. Whilst the proposals tabled by the European Commission show an increased interest in the role that energy efficiency services and district energy planning will play in this ambitious transition, EFIEES’ mission remains crucial to building on this dynamic.
Mr. Guillaume is dedicated to ensuring that the voice of EFIEES’ members, as vital actors in the climate and energy transition, is heard. He said:
“I am very happy that EFIEES’ Board confirmed its support for our action, which led to EFIEES being consulted by EC Commission on the shaping of the new and more ambitious energy legislation under the European Green Deal. Our responsibility more than ever will be to continue next year convincing the EU’s co-legislators about the importance of energy efficiency services and efficient heating and cooling solutions at the district level. Our solutions and concrete proposals must contribute to the success of this energy and climate transition.”
